Return to the Natural Mind

Course / Open Meditation with Geri Loizzo

“The return is the practice” is a koan that our friend Sharon Salzberg often tells us. In this spirit of remembering and learning, our new fall semester will have us turn the first wheel again to the foundational practices. We’ll go back to the first teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, having just experienced his realization of enlightenment under the Bodhi tree and urged by his friends to share his discovery!

Along with mindfulness meditation, we’ll discuss essentials of practice, theory, and application. The topics explored are: The Four Scopes of Mindfulness — body, sense, mind, and experience; the Four Noble Truths — suffering and its causes, happiness and it's causes; and the Eight-fold Path. We’ll apply these foundations to learning basics insights that the Buddha taught.

Join us on Wednesday mornings as we explore ways to bring awareness into everyday life.

This ongoing meditation series, formerly held on Tuesday mornings, is now held on Wednesday mornings, and is open to all — no experience is necessary.
