Contemplative Writing: Uncovering the Writer Within
Event Navigation

With Katherine Jamieson
Overview
Seeds of stories, poems, and essays are present in each of us, but how do we create the rich soil for them to take root and grow? Please join visiting faculty Katherine Jamieson as we uncover the writer within each of us. Each week we’ll engage in a new aspect of the cultivation of contemplative writing practice and learn how creative flow can enrich your life and offer access to compassion, wisdom, and joy. Inspiration will come from in-class exercises, developing a regular writing habit, and selected readings.
Schedule
Session One: Cultivating the Writing Mind
Exploring motivations for developing our contemplative writing practice and learning how to tap into our storehouse of ideas, memories, and images
Session Two: The Significance of Sound
Focusing on the sounds of words to appreciate the connections between poetry, prose, and contemplation, and engaging writing practices that encourage creative flow
