Healing Our Planet: The Indigenous Wisdom of Lyla June
Event Navigation

Overview
Among the many unprecedented challenges facing humanity today, the global environmental crisis poses the greatest threat to the future of all life on earth. As the science and news grows more ominous each day, the dominant colonial culture driving the crisis lacks the wisdom and will to act to avert the catastrophe already upon us.
Indigenous peoples around the world trace the self-destructive path of colonial culture to a fundamentally wrong relationship with the earth and its life. Indigenous advocate and activist, Diné (Navajo) and Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) musician-scholar-organizer Lyla June Johnston, offers us all the living wisdom we need to help restore our right relationship, stop the violent destruction of life and land, and learn how to become good stewards of the earth we share.
In this 3-session online course, Lyla June shares her doctoral work on pre-Columbian Indigenous food systems, the relationship systems that upheld them, and the ways in which truth, faith and compassion can help our world at this time. Weaving practice and ideas together with instruction, poetry and group dialogue, she will guide participants through a three-week journey of new understanding.
Schedule
Week 1 will focus on the history and context of indigenous stewardship of the land.
Week 2 will focus on how to restore our right relationship with the earth as exemplified in Indigenous farming practices.
Week 3 will explore how truth, faith and compassion can help reunite all humanity in moving forward with healing our culture and our planet.
Take a look at Lyla June’s recent inspiring talks.
If you’ve been searching for ways you can be part of the solution, please join Lyla June on this powerful and vital journey towards healing humanity and the earth we share.
