Loving-kindness in Unkind Times: Heart and Mind Training for Difficult Emotions
A Daylong Meditation Retreat with Rachel Hammerman and Nina Herzog
In this daylong retreat, Nalanda Institute faculty Rachel Hammerman and Nina Herzog explore how we can apply the wisdom of ancient Buddhist meditation practices of Loving-kindness and Mindfulness to the confusion and chaos of our modern lives. As our society veers toward exclusion that fuels fear, how can we meet the anxiety with compassion? How can we use the timeless teachings of the Buddha to help restore our energy for action and avoid burnout or “compassion fatigue?” Join us as we train in loving-kindness, compassion and mindfulness practices that help us stay present in challenging times, work skillfully with the arising of difficult emotions, and apply the antidote of connectedness to mitigate increasing division and isolation.
The day will include sitting and walking meditation, teaching, discussion and communication exercises. All are welcome to attend (some meditation experience is useful but not required).
This program is presented in partnership with Tibet House.
