Sustaining Motivation and Purpose: Coming Together in Uncertain Times

An online gathering and talk with Dr. Joe Loizzo

Given the losses that keep mounting around us, the growing monotony of our days, and the uncertain horizons we see receding further and further into the future, we’re all struggling to sustain our motivation and sense of purpose in the face of this pandemic.

In protracted crises like these, all too often our practice of reflection and meditation is the first casualty. It’s not because we don’t care. Somehow the spell of ongoing uncertainty knocks the wind out of our sails. Whether we think of it as the spell of the Bardo, or what psychologists call chronic strain trauma, it’s something we all seem to be grappling with in one way or another today.

Fortunately, the Nalanda tradition offers a whole tool-chest of ways to help snap us out of that spell. In this gathering, Dr. Joe Loizzo will gladly share some of his go-to favorites, from nurturing gratitude and kindling altruism to calling on mentors of steadfast strength. He also looks forward to hearing how everyone is sustaining motivation and purpose!

Please join us for our third Nalanda Institute Gathering in Uncertain Times this Friday May 1 at 5:30 EDT.
