Universal Contemplative Education for an Equitable, Sustainable Future

An Online Gathering with special guest Shartse Khensur Jangchub Choeden
As the days grow longer and we begin to see some light at the end of the tunnel of the pandemic, it’s time for us to prepare for the long hard journey ahead, towards an equitable, sustainable future for all our human family and all life on earth. The world we return to is one facing a perfect storm centuries in the making, in which our many challenges— systemic racism, extreme inequity, climate chaos and the politics of hate — all point to a dominant cultural legacy of supremacy, conquest and scarcity thinking, rooted in our self-protective survival instincts.
For our 12th Gathering in Uncertain Times, we open our eyes to the light with the help of a leading contemplative scientist in the Nalanda tradition, the former abbot of Shartse College of Ganden University in South India. Shartse Khensur Jangchub Choeden, among the youngest Lharampa Geshes appointed abbot by HH the Dalai Lama, is fluent in five languages including English and Mandarin and is known as the “21st century monk” for his nuanced understanding of the complex issues of global civilization.
In 2018, he was appointed the first head of the International Geluk Foundation, charged with bringing the living contribution of the Nalanda mind science tradition into dialogue with the dominant materialist culture of today. As a distinguished graduate of Gyuto Tantric College, he is also intimate with the most modern transformational version of that tradition, the Transformational Clockwork of the visionary Kalachakra-tantra.
The Shartse Khensur brings a much-needed perspective on how the dominant culture of the modern West has created the complex crisis we’re in and how the Buddhist mind science tradition can help awaken our Buddha-potential — for thriving together with all life on earth, and to guide us towards the new way of being and living we need today.
Please join us as Shartse Khensur shares his vision of a positive global future for humanity and our planet, guided by the transformational science and practice of the Nalanda tradition.
