Introduction to Module 3

The Trunk of Creative Transformation—Fostering the Developmental Context and Process of Embodied Contemplative Practice and Psychotherapy

The first stage of embodied contemplative healing in the Nalanda tradition is creative revision — the top-down work of de-reifying, de-constructing and transforming traumatic self-world constructs and narratives into a vision and affirmation of our innate potential for embodied well-being. This module explores that work and its phases—exposing traumatic self-world constructs and affects, developing a healing vision and narrative of well-being, and applying it repeatedly to correct and transform our traumatic perception so we can eventually reconnect with our full range of embodied experience, including our embodied individual and communal well-being. This work is compared and contrasted with the use of healing imagery, prophetic vision, and empowering narrative in contemporary embodied psychotherapy, family-systems therapy, social justice work and community organizing to heal our Intergenerational trauma and cultivate psychological well-being and psychosocial change.
