Year-end fundraising 2019

Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science

From now until the end of the year, your gift will be doubled!

An end-of-year message from Dr. Joe Loizzo, Founder & Director of the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science:

Dear Friends of Nalanda Institute,

As 2019 comes to a close, we honor the collective heart of our wisdom-seeking community and the altruistic courage of our graduates, exemplified in our first four Nalanda Institute Fellows! We honor Ann Campbell’s work leading cutting edge research on our Compassion-Based Resilience Training (CBRT) at Rockefeller University, Maria Thorin’s work making CBRT available to humanitarian aid-workers worldwide, Yuria Celidwen’s work bringing contemplative training to indigenous caretakers of our vanishing rainforest, and Priscilla Gilman’s work bringing contemplative skills to parents of special needs children.

Of course, we are equally inspired by all the world-changing work done by all our graduates—from Contemplative Psychotherapy, CBRT Teacher Training, Meditation Teacher Training, Yoga, Mind & Spirit Training, Sustainable Happiness, and Boundless Leadership—though we can’t possibly catalogue all that work here! What we know is that, together, we are all making a much bigger difference than any one of us could alone.

And yet there is so much more we can and must do—that is why we’ve developed a new Strategic Development Plan to take our collective efforts to the next level—through expanding our Fellows Program, recruiting a dynamic executive director, and raising seed funds for a Nalanda Institute Training Center to serve as a global healing hub.

All around us we see a world on fire, and naturally, we all long to be part of the solution, to help stop this planet and its life from going up in smoke. But what can we do as individuals or as a community? Now more than ever we need to bring the living wisdom and compassion of Nalanda’s masters into our everyday lives and work. We must begin with the sober acknowledgement that the planet will only find peace when every human on earth learns to cool their head and warm their heart, and that such small miracles only happen when the pilot light of wise compassion in one heart lights another and another, one individual at a time.

At Nalanda Institute, we take heart in what we have accomplished together thus far. In ten years of steady evolution in our programs, gradual expansion in our community, and spreading the glow of compassion through our graduate network, we have become one of few existing institutions ready and able to train the rigorously grounded and radically inclusive contemplative leaders the world so urgently needs to turn the fire to light.

Yet we can’t continue to keep offering our programs, much less consolidate the team and infrastructure we need to train the leaders our planet needs without the support of each and every one of you. So please help us make a bigger difference and consider Nalanda Institute in your year-end giving.

This year an anonymous altruist has once again offered to match your gift. With your help we hope to raise the funds we need not just to keep having impact, but to take the next steps laid out in our new Strategic Development Plan. So please give now—no donation is too small!

With boundless gratitude,

Joe Loizzo, MD, PhD
