Fire to Light: Completion Stage Yogas for Transforming Trauma

Overview

Nalanda Institute’s Contemplative Psychotherapy Program is pleased to present this hybrid in-person/online Spring retreat at Tibet House US in New York City. The weekend introduces the embodied neuroscience and transformative arts of the completion stage of Unexcelled Tantric healing and explores how its powerful and accessible Vajra Therapy can help catalyze and speed the dissolution of our fragmented trauma body into our fully awakened, whole humanity, at the individual, interpersonal, societal and planetary levels.

After reviewing how Vajra Therapy combines the mindful arts of healing imagery and narrative with the somatic arts of self-massage, movement and breath-work, retreat leaders Drs. Nida Chenagtsang and Joe Loizzo will survey the transformational journey of the completion stage, including the nine yogas that lead from the basic art of inner fire sublimation (tummo) to the supreme yoga (ati-yoga) of fully awakened, full-bodied integration.

Our main focus together will be tasting how the flow states sparked by sublimation fuel the light of the supreme yoga, the embodied transformational form of emptiness meditation also known as the great communion (mahamudra) and great perfection (mahanispanna). We conclude by exploring how the lucid intuition and joyful care accessed by this profound practice can be applied through embodied psychotherapy and psychosocial change to transform the fragmentation of our individual and collective trauma into the diamond nervous system and rainbow planet prophesied by the Clockwork (Kalachakra) Tantra.
